Our client, near Oswestry, is looking for someone to work on their traditional estate. The role will include;

• Maintenance of tracks and footpaths
• Grassland and water trough maintenance
• Fencing and Gate repairs/maintenance
• Ditch line maintenance
• Some grass cutting and strimming
• Basic maintenance of plant and machinery

The successful applicant will require the following:

• Experience in the operation of farm machinery (e.g. tractors and associated equipment)
• Tractors, grabs, Loaders, PTO
• Trailers, Mowers/mulchers
• Digger operator qualified (no more than 8 ton)
• General non-specialised building and property maintenance abilities

 Our client is looking for someone to fulfil a key role on their traditional Welsh Marches estate near Oswestry.

It is a mixed rural estate comprising residential, forestry, commercial, and agricultural tenancies. They are looking for someone to principally do bookkeeping and maintain tenancy information and rent collection as well as the wages and financial side of the estate. The role also includes assisting with rent reviews, lease renewals and contract farming accounts working alongside the rest of the team.

Changes to BPS de-linked payments

28th May 2024

The RPA have just announced changes to the BPS de-linked payment dates.

Approximately 50% of the de-linked payment will be made from 1st August and the second instalment to be paid from 1st September rather than December. This has been done to help farmers with their cashflow following the impact of the wet weather.

New hedgerow management regulations approved

What the regulations mean for you:
- A 2 metre buffer strip with green cover must be established and maintained.
- No cultivation or application of pesticides or fertilisers within the 2-metre buffer strip
- A hedgerow cutting and trimming ban from 1 March to 31 August (inclusive)

The cutting and trimming ban will start immediately. The buffer strip rules will begin from 1 July 2024 for grassland and from the first harvest after 1 July 2024 for land which is currently cropped.
